			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><iframe width="620" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/70JfNPwx-B8?fs=1&#038;feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a quick tip on how to setup your Zoom H1 as a dual purpose portable recorder that clips to your talents belt. This setup includes, a zoom h1, sm58 windscreen, phone pouch* (dollar store), stereo adapter and a lav mic.<br />
*Thanks to <a href="http://www.TheFrugalFilmmaker.com" title="TheFrugalFilmmaker.com">TheFrugalFilmmaker.com</a> for the idea to use the phone pouch!</p>
<p>This setup is a low cost alternative to a wireless mic system, as your talent can move around freely and the audio can be synced up in post. While the mic windscreen helps hide the mic, it also allows for the mic to easily be transformed into a handheld mic by simply unplugging the lav mic.</p>
<p>Here’s a list of the gear:</p>
<p><strong>Zoom H1 Mic</strong><br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><iframe width="620" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/SWCnINt4qAw?fs=1&#038;feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>Today I felt like making a fisheye lens using a door peep lens! There are a bunch of tutorials on the web showing how to do this, and after doing some research, I think I found the quickest way to share with you! All you need is a door lens, some tape, some drawer liner and a pvc bushing.</p>
<p>I used a 1 ½ x ½ inch SCH40 PVC (reducer) Bushing for the camera that I mounted the lens to. I used the reducer bushing because it already has a hole, so there’s no drilling. You will have to decide what diameter you will use based on your camera’s lens diameter. I’d recommend choosing a size slightly larger, so you can use the drawer liner to get the snug fit.<br />
(The second measurement in the bushing sizes is the hole size, ½ inch works perfect for this door lens)</p>
<p>This project turned out much better than I was expecting, I hope you get a chance to go out and make one yourself!</p>
<p>If you’d like to see more, check out the behind the scenes of this project! The extended cut version of this build is a vlog-style Quick FX &#8211; knoptop original.</p>

<p>Today we cover a super useful, super cheap DIY Solution for a &#8216;follow focus assist&#8217; for your DSLR camera!  Tony Carretti (link below) came up with this idea for using a Trudeau brand jar opener as a focus assist solution and when I saw his video, I had to try it out and share it with you!</p>

This episode we take a look at the Aiptek SeeMee HD camera, which features a front LCD screen for the ability to see yourself while filming! I purchased this camera, hoping to have something I could use to shoot vlogs and other fun videos.  The front LCD screen was one of the main reasons this camera caught my eye.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>As you will see in the video, I was surprised to see that the macro switch on this fixed focus camera actually gives a nice depth of field!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I wanted to share a design I put together with the extra PVC components from an upcoming build project featuring a Camera Cage/ Stabilizer that is still in the final testing phase. I&#8217;ll be sharing with everyone soon!</p>
<p>In the the meantime, this DSLR specific rig was designed to add a low-profile &#8216;cage&#8217; with handles on my camera, and it was built specifically with this specific camera/lens combination.  This rig is made of a few dollars worth of pvc components.</p>
<p>As mentioned in the video, this specific design was created around my camera and lens.  Lengths of the straight pieces may vary for your design.<br />
If you are interested in the details of this &#8216;micro rig&#8217; design:</p>
<p>6 &#8211; 90°<br />
1 &#8211; T-joint<br />
1 &#8211; cross joint<br />
The straight tube pieces consist of:<br />
2 &#8211; 5&#8243;<br />
4 &#8211; 3&#8243;<br />
The entire design is 1/2&#8243; PVC</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This episode of tech talk features a little bit of everything  First off, I wanted to share this cool mini tripod that shipped out free with one of my camera bags.</p>
<p>The mini table tripod is made of plastic but still has a sturdy design.  If it was made out of aluminum, it&#8217;d be perfect!!  But it&#8217;s still a nice little piece of gear to have in the bag.  It is able to support my DSLR camera pretty well!  (Though it may not be designed for that much weight)</p>
<p><object width="620" height="349"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/caie3fW5_8U?version=3&#038;feature=oembed"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/caie3fW5_8U?version=3&#038;feature=oembed" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="620" height="349" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></p>
<p>It&#8217;s also a great handle for my Zoom H1 !! The mini tripod is made by a few companies, the most familiar is Vivitar.<br />
More info available here:<br />
3&#8243; Mini Digital Camera Tripod<br />
<script type='text/javascript'>
window.onload = document.write("<iframe width='100%' height='250' marginwidth='0' marginheight='0' scrolling='no' frameborder='0'  src='http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?lt1=_blank&amp;bc1=000000&amp;IS2=1&amp;bg1=FFFFFF&amp;fc1=000000&amp;lc1=0000FF&amp;t=knoptop-20&amp;o=1&amp;p=8&amp;l=as4&amp;m=amazon&amp;f=ifr&amp;ref=ss_til&amp;asins=B003QFK09C' ></iframe> ");
 </script><br />
If you listen closely, it sounds like there is a &#8216;whistling&#8217; noise as the wind blows created by the windmuff&#8230; Interesting.</p>
<p>I was impressed with how well the windscreen did, it was a windy day! The audio quality of the Zoom h1 was nice, though I think I had my input levels slightly too high as the audio peaked in a few places during my dialogue.  And I&#8217;m still getting use to how &#8216;stereo&#8217; the mic pick up is.  Tilting the mic just slightly and the audio moves from center to left or right.</p>
<p>The ipod audio was surprisingly good! Though placing it in a pocket, you can hear the rustling of the clothes.</p>
<p>But it wouldn&#8217;t make too bad of a mic.  &#8230;backup, last resort mic. <img src='http://knoptop.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
